For venues

A shift or a role to fill?
See what they’ve done.

Post the shift or the role. See who applied, with the hours each person has worked in that role, and what other venues recorded. Then you choose who to hire.

How employment works

You stay the employer.

You employ and pay workers directly through your own payroll. SkillFill helps you list the shift, review applications and keep the work record.

The record

Show the work
behind the job title.

Your resume is where you start, because there’s no history yet. After that, every shift you work through SkillFill adds to your record: the role, the hours the venue settled, and any reference the venue writes.

It’s your record. You keep it, and you choose who sees it.

You write your resume. Your record comes from the venues you’ve worked for.

How your record builds

  1. Start with your resume.

It gets you in the door for your first shift.

  2. Work the shift.

You clock in and out, and the venue settles the hours.

  3. Get a reference.

If the venue chooses, it adds a reference in its own words. It goes on your record.

Pay on the listing

See the pay
before you say yes.

Every shift shows what it pays. SkillFill works it out from the Hospitality Award for the day and the hours. A venue can pay above that rate. SkillFill won’t let it post a shift below it.

The Canberra pilot

Help shape the
first shifts.

We’re preparing to test this with hospitality workers and venues in Canberra. We’re looking for people who can try the workflow and tell us what needs to change.

What we’d ask of a pilot venue

  1. Bring a real shift to fill.

Post the role and hours. Review applications and choose who you want to hire.

  2. Check the recorded hours.

Review the timesheet and pay through your own payroll. Add a reference if you choose.

  3. Tell us what worked.

Help us understand what made hiring easier and where the process got in your way.

What we want to find out

  • Can a venue choose who to hire with more to go on than a resume?
  • Is the pay clear before a worker accepts?
  • Does the work record help with the next application?

Hospitality is the first step. Our broader aim is to make work experience easier to show across more kinds of work.
